Nettie Has Alopecia is
a series of children's books promoting reading literacy, fluency and positive life lessons for children and adolescents.
"Nettie Has Alopecia" is a heartwarming series of children's books that follows the story of an eight-year-old girl named Nettie. She makes a surprising discovery one morning while combing her hair—her hair starts falling out! Frightened and confused, Nettie reaches out to her mother for comfort. To Nettie's amazement, her mother reveals that she has the exact same condition, called Alopecia. Nettie is reassured as her mother shares her own experiences and feelings. Realizing that she's not alone, Nettie's fear turns into curiosity. With a loving and understanding mother by her side, Nettie's mom immediately schedules a doctor's appointment to learn more about their condition. Through gentle hugs and words of encouragement, Nettie's mother teaches her that beauty comes in many forms, and having Alopecia doesn't make her any less special.
As they wait for the doctor's appointment, Nettie's mom helps her embrace her unique beauty from the inside out. Together, Nettie learns that even with less hair, she is still the same joyful, playful, beautiful, and amazing kid she was born to be.
